A
truly unique sounding instrument, the Muselar, by virtue of its keyboard
placement on the right of the instrument, plucks the strings much
further from the left bridge than the plucking point of a harpsichord.
The resultant tone is very deep and hauntingly hollow.
The Muselar (center photo icon) was a special order, the
decoration and case style being French rather than Flemish. In its usual
form (left photo icon), the case is fully papered with an optional
painting on the
lid. It sits on a turned, trestle stand and comes with a matching bench.
This is a tone quality you will not soon forget. |

| Inspired by the slightly smaller 17th century Ottavino, this instrument (right photo icon) is intended to be placed on a table and played while standing. It is pitched a 5th higher than normal pitch (the C keys sound G). It is placed on a stand from which it may be removed to allow for seated playing. Full Flemish papers are included in the base price. Despite its diminutive size, the tone is quite robust and sustained. | |||
